A new home for Gunther

I am writing this story about our own Jennifer Leroux who is our warranty administrator here at Kendall Subaru of Eugene. During the time she is not at work, Jennifer spends her time helping dogs as the founder of the non-profit Doxies of PNW. She uses her non-profit to help pay for dog's medical needs and to help owners of Doxies in the area. Recently she was able to use her connections and expertise to re-home Gunther. Guther's owner had a change of life circumstances that did not allow her to keep Gunther and she began searching for a new home for him. Through Jennifer's connections, she was able to get in contact with an individual who had just lost his own dog and was trying to find another. Jennifer was able to arrange the details and take Gunther to his new home. Gunther is adjusting well and is very happy as is the new owner. We appreciate all of Jennifer's work in the local community helping both dogs and owners.

CommUNITY Makes All the Difference

We want to offer a giant THANK YOU to the Kendall Subaru of Eugene Team, and all of the amazing, like-hearted neighbors who chose to give their Share the Love donation to our burgeoning Lane County non-profit organization. At Back2Youth.org, we are fully dedicated to reconnecting local teens with the natural world around them and with their true inner nature. We knew when we began this journey that it was needed, valuable and that it would be highly supportive for our local community - for teens and families alike. We knew we would experience community support in creating and fulfilling our mission and vision. However, we didn’t realize how incredible and humbling this support would be! We didn’t know how it would come to us, how far we could go, or how many lives we could touch through building this vision. Today, our hearts are singing in gratitude because of the overwhelming generosity of our local community. We are still a new non-profit organization. We know there are hundreds of great nonprofits out there, so to have this much recognition and support pour in (before we even celebrate our 5th anniversary!) shows us we’re on the right track. What we are building and investing our time, talents, resources and vision towards is truly a shared larger community vision. It was never simply our own. It was an inner calling we answered on behalf of our neighbors and our larger community. Our authentic desire and drive to uplift local teens, to remind them that Mother Nature is their ultimate ally, through all the stages of their lives – is our mission. That mission is clearly shared, it is felt, seen and acknowledged by our community too. In knowing this is so, from here - because of our commUNITY - we truly have no limits! Thank you All! - The Back2Youth Team

Baby Duck Love

In the middle of our lot in August, a gaggle of ducklings fell into one of the storm grates. Our crew was kind enough to pull up the storm grate and rescue them. By this point Mama duck had flown off so Steve Hansen, our long time Technician, took them home to care for them. He kept them warm and fed them for a couple of months until their wings grew in, including keeping them warm and letting them play in his own bathtub. They ended up flying off of his property for about a month, and amazingly enough, they flew back about a month later to graze again and have taken off again. Amazing animals. Go Ducks! Since then, Steve has meshed up the storm grate to keep this from happening again. Thank you Steve! You are a credit to our world!

Skedaddle finds a home

Skedaddle is a 2-year-old pup who was transferred to us from another shelter through Greenhill’s second chance program. When he first arrived, he seemed shut down and not trusting of people. After a few days with lots of patience and care, all of his nerves melted away and he showed off his bubbly personality! Skedaddle quickly became a favorite around here because of his sweet, affectionate manner. He was well behaved, got along with other dogs, and was overall, a really fun pup to be around! However, even though he was wonderful one-on-one with people he knew, when potential adopters would walk by his kennel, he would bark, jump up, and scare people off. We knew this initial behavior deterred many from wanting to meet him but we held out, knowing his perfect people would come. Through our partnership with Kendall Subaru of Eugene, we promoted adoptable animals online through digital newsletters and social media posts during the month of October. Our adoptable animals, like Skedaddle, were showcased on our local pet of the week segments on varies news channels and highlighted with new photos weekly on our website. A young couple saw Skedaddle on a social media post and loved his joyous, big smile! They came in to meet him and the rest was history! During the adoption appointment, Skedaddle instantly acted like he was already part of their family, greeting them with joyous wiggles. Throughout October, we had over 240 animals adopted into loving new homes including 164 cats and 69 dogs thanks to the Subaru Loves Pets promotion.

BLANKETS, BLANKETS, BLANKETS

KENDALL SUBARU DONATED MANY BLANKETS TO THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY; THEY WERE DROPPED OFF AT THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY CANCER INSTITUE. This EXPERIENCE IS ONE OF THE BEST, KNOWING THE COMFORT THESE BLANKETS WILL BRING. VERY PROUD TO BE A PART OF KENDALL SUBARU FOR THE SUBARU LOVES TO CARE EVENT!

Thank you from the American Cancer Society!!

Kristen and I practically burst into tears when we saw the huge check with a whopping $25,000 on it! I mean, we know we were there to accept a check, but we had no idea how much it was going to be! It means so much to all of us who work with the American Cancer Society, to receive such a generous donation. We work around the clock to put on fundraisers of all sizes, so we can fund the crucial mission of ACS. Such a large donation has an incredible impact, and will truly make a difference in the fight against cancer. Our mission is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Whether it's fueling breakthrough research or providing essential services throughout someone's cancer journey, our fundraising makes a real difference in the fight against cancer. We are a leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. We are improving the lives of people with cancer and their families as the only organization combating cancer through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.  This particular donation will go to the Relay For Life of Eugene/Springfield. Relay For Life is one of the largest peer-to-peer fundraising events in the world. Every one of us has been touched by cancer in some way. ACS is the #1 private funder of cancer research in the world, and it’s all because of donations like this. When our research program began, only one out of ten people diagnosed would survive. Now, two out of three people diagnosed will survive the disease. We’ve come such a long way, and we won’t stop until every person can survive cancer. Until then, we’ll focus on continuing funding crucial research (we have $12 million in cancer research grants funded in Oregon alone) as well as much needed resources that are utilized by cancer patients and their families, like free lodging, information, support groups, and transportation (Road To Recovery program!) to treatment. We want everybody to know that donations like this help fund our free 24/7 hotline (1-800-227-2345), where you can call, day or night, to access any resource that might be applicable to you or somebody you know who needs it. It also funds our www.cancer.org website that has seemingly endless information and resources to those in need. A gigantic thank you all of the employees of Kendall Subaru of Eugene who made this happen!!!! It takes a village to fight this fight and you, our friends, have a mighty village! THANK YOU!

A Buddy Bench for the Boys and Girls Club of Eugene

The wait is finally over, The Boys and Girls club of Eugene patiently waited nearly two years for the Buddy Bench that Kendall Subaru donated to them. The purpose of the bench is to create a non verbal ask for a buddy. A child who is feeling lonely can go sit on the bench and another person knows to sit next to them. The Bench was made from 7600 snack wrappers recycled from Kendall Subaru. The materials were compressed to make this beautiful Buddy Bench. Subaru is paired up with Terracycle®, recycle boxes are placed around the dealership, once they are filled they are sent back to TerraCycle and the magic begins. GM, Kara Smith presented the bench to the Boys and Girls Club in Eugene this month of May.

KENDALL SUBARU SHARING THE LOVE TO SUPPORT ONE OF OUR FAMILY MEMBERS

Triston Peters has worked for Kendall Subaru as a sales associate exclusively for the past five years. He and his wife Shelby have 2 kiddos, a son and daughter. The night of February 22nd was a frightening one for him and his family. Kinzlee, 14 months, was not breathing for long periods of time. They rushed her to the hospital where they called Doernbecher's Hospital in Portland to have her flown by helicopter. When they arrived, the oxygen masks and respirator was too large for this small little girl. She was then taken to Corvallis, where they were able to temporarily treat her in the "Panda unit." Shortly there after she was transported to Dornbecher's Children Hospital where she would stay. Triston and his wife were devastated. He couldn't leave them to go to work, they spent eight days in the same waiting area as doctors and nurses tried to figure out what was wrong. She had a collapsed left lung and damaged right one. She was hooked up to machines and breathing tubes for weeks. After vigorous attempts to get her to breathe, two surgeries and manual inflation to her lung, Miss Kinzlee was diagnosed with Rhino virus. Triston had ran out of PTO and the medical bills were stacking. Triston's family story arose care and concern and a level of "love" and support that needed to be shared and supported. Kara Smith, General Manager, had a meeting with all the employees at Kendall Subaru, "We have to find a way to support our family member." She made flyers and with the help of the office manager, designed employee payroll deduct forms to be passed out to everyone in the Kendall Auto Group organization. The group booked a hotel in Portland close to the hospital for two weeks. In one week, this family, our family, was able to raise $12,890 to provide Triston and his family with some kind of financial support and the love they needed. Kara called Triston the week of March 6th asking if he could join us in our "All Store Celebration Meeting" we have every second Friday of the month. We highlight anniversaries, birthdays, and each department leader gives a shout out to a situation, or person that they had witnessed that previous month for acts of kindness, love, or improvements made in the course of that month. This one was extra special, on March 10th, we had the red carpet out and had Triston and his son stand up there, while the meeting area was filled with our Subaru employees and others from our group to present this check to Triston. He had no idea. speechless and emotionally drained all he could do was smile. As of today 3/15, Kinzlee is stable, and home. She is in physical therapy twice a day to relearn how to walk and use her arms and hands. This story made us all come together to take care of one of our own. When we think of Subaru, we think of UNITY! This right here is the Love promise, not just the promise to our customers that we uphold everyday, but the ones we are with everyday to take care of those customers. I am proud of this team, the group and the store in its entirety. Way to go Kendall Subaru!

Kendall Subaru GM donates hair to Children with hair loss

Kara Smith, the General Manager of Kendall Subaru decided that with the new year she was going to finally cut her hair to donate to Children with hair loss. On a whim, she scheduled her cut and that was that. "I have had family who have suffered from Cancer, customers whom I have watched through the years battle cancer and experience hair loss from Chemo and radiation. I want them to know that I see them, I care about them, so does my Team at Kendall Subaru. I have grown my hair out for this cause and today is the day I give it away!"

Butternut's Love Promise

Butternut is a sweet 9-year-old pup who endured a lot of hardship in life before arriving at Greenhill Humane Society. She was brought to us in need of immediate medical attention. She was emaciated and malnourished, with a dirty coat, overgrown toenails, and severe dental problems. Stressed with her new surroundings and not feeling good, we couldn’t believe that Butternut was still friendly and affectionate to our team. For the next few weeks she was given a medically supervised weight management plan and slowly started gaining weight. We gave her a bath and trimmed her nails. She was on her way to becoming a healthy, normal dog. With her sweet demeanor she quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite. We learned what a smart girl she was as she showed off her “sit,” “shake,” and “down” and how much she loves playing fetch! It was fortunate that Butternut found her way to us to receive all the love and attention she needed to thrive. Through our partnership with Kendall Subaru of Eugene, we promoted adoptable animals online through digital newsletters and social media posts during the month of October. Our adoptable animals, like Butternut, were showcased on our local pet of the week segments on various news channels and highlighted with new photos weekly on our website. After almost a month on the adoption floor, a young woman came across Butternut’s photo online and loved her smile. She is a private nurse who was looking for a calm dog to join her on her daily trips to her clients’ homes and thought bringing a dog with her would bring joy to her patients. Once she read more about Butternut she just knew she was the one. She came out the next day to meet her and instantly fell in love! It’s only been two weeks since her adoption and we’ve already received an update letting us know Butternut is enjoying her new life! She gets along great with her grandparent’s dogs and even tagged along to their pumpkin patch trip!

Kendall Subaru steps up to help after employee, Joseph Tompkins apartment complex catches fire

The early morning of July 27th wasn't a normal one, our very own Joseph Tompkins, Salesperson at Kendall Subaru woke up to yelling at 3am, He realized the apartment complex was on fire. He woke up frantically looking for his mother, later found on the back patio using a garden hose to spray down the flames. Unbeknownst to her there were many apartments in the front ablaze. They made it out. The fire left many homeless and without any of their materialistic items. No one was seriously injured. There was one apartment that housed two young men, Brothers. Dave and Shawn. They had nothing. Joseph took them to buy clothes, phone chargers etc..., the red cross gave each tenant $500.00 on a card for food and possible housing at a nearby hotel. Joseph shared his story immediately upon returning to work the following day. Kendall Subaru received the names from the Riviera Village apartments where the fire had occurred just a day before. At least eight tenants were displaced. Kendall Subaru provided hotel stays for some of the tenants to include Joseph and his mother and the two brothers, Shawn and Dave. we learned that Shawn had lost his glasses in the fire. He was taken to get an eye exam and within days he has a new set. Thank you Kendall Subaru. Kendall Subaru paired up with the Hope project and the young men will have the things they need when they find housing. Kendall is also donating to Red Cross to show thanks for the LOVE they provided to all the tenants at the Riviera Village. Ethan was driving and somehow had a blow out on 3 out of 4 tires. Express lead technician was out on his lunch break when he witnessed a young man stranded in the middle of a busy road. He helped push his Ford Ranger to the center lane and came to Kendall Subaru to get the shop foreman, Dan Janisse, to tow his vehicle to safety with his Suzuki. The team came together and pushed him to a parking spot until AAA was available to tow it further. A big shout out to the Kendall Subaru team for their unwavering Kindness.

Working with Subaru

The Eugene Emeralds have worked with Kendall Subaru in 2020 and 2021 to host several blood drives with American Red Cross. This group has been amazing to work with, and I can't wait to grow the partnership. The staff is always ready to help, and does an amazing job making sure that we were able to get a time that worked for everyone. The staff was friendly and helpful during each drive, and always made a point to check in to see how things were going. They were willing to help when donors came in with questions even when it had nothing to do with there job! They were great!

Delivering Thanksgiving to Veterans

Kara Beachem woke up early Thanksgiving day to load up food from Food for Lane County to deliver to some of our local Veterans. Simply put, she stated " the emotions ran high and on a good note, delivering these meals was the best thing in the world, watching them grin ear to ear and say how thankful they were was priceless, i could do this all day." The meals were dressed in beautiful creative colored pictures all around the boxes, they included perishables and all the Thanksgiving fixings to include a full Turkey ready to be baked.

Subaru Loves Pets - Greenhill Humane Society

We are so thankful for Subaru and our local Subaru retailer, Kendall Subaru. Because of their support, we were able to find a home for Max and many dogs like him. Max did not show any physical signs of being an underdog, however, this 7-year-old pup had endured lots of hardship. Max has spent many months in and out of the shelter and was emotionally checked out. Back in 2019, local police officers brought Max to the shelter after he was found malnourished, scared, and abandoned in a home. He received lots of TLC from our staff, was put on a nutrient-rich diet, and slowly learned to trust humans again. Once he was ready for adoption, Max waited over 5 months to be adopted his first time at Greenhill. Unfortunately, this year, his adopter passed away and Max found himself back in our care. After the emotional loss Max endured, he was very stressed and anxious. Our canine team truly loved this sweet, handsome boy and had a soft spot for him. We wanted nothing more than for this pup to thrive, and we knew he would make the perfect underdog to highlight in October during the Subaru Loves Pets month. After promoting Max on our website and social media for a few short weeks, his perfect new family made an appointment to meet him. We are thrilled Max gets to spend his life in a loving home filled with lots of warm blankets and daily walks on the beach. Thank you, Subaru, for your support and help in finding Max a home.

Caring

My 2019 Subaru had been stolen and totaled. My insurance company was making the process very difficult. Kendall Subaru in Eugene genuinely cared about my circumstance. They not only helped me get a new car (thanks Tim!) but gave me a loaner vehicle while I waited the 2 months to get it (my car insurance only allowed me a rental for 3 weeks and I was in a tough spot and they understood that and took care of me). The quality of transparency, communication and devotion they showed me was incredible. They truly care about their customers and it shows. Thank you to EVERYONE at Kendall Subaru of Eugene!! Fun & Fit Kids Summer '21

Kendall Subaru has been a generous partner with KIDSPORTS for many years. Kendall Subaru sponsors our Fall Soccer Program that helps 3,000 children, aged K - 8th grade to play and have fun while learning soccer and movement skills. Kendall Subaru's generous sponsorship helps KS to achieve our mission of "All Kids Play;' which means that regardless of your athletic ability to play, or your families ability to pay, we find a way. KS never turns away a child who desires a chance to play. In the Spring of 2021, Kendall Subaru and their Subaru Share the Love Program delivered an unexpected but most incredible gift to KS: a $16,657.00 check! Wow! What a generous, significant, and timely gift in the midst of a world pandemic. This gift not only provided us with assistance to keep kids playing and having fun in our traditional team sport, it also and directly allowed us to expand and reach even more kids through two new programs: Fitkids and PE Fusion! These two programs have been critical in serving the needs of children who have not been able to get regular exercise and activity as a result of the pandemic that kept many families and kids in isolation and without any outlet for activity and socialization. Fitkids is a program for 18 months to 3 year olds and PE Fusion for K - 5th grade and both programs have made an incredible difference in the physical, social, emotional, and mental health and well being of our kids and families. Subaru's Share the Love program has been a critical partner in allowing our organization to keep kids playing and having fun when they need it the most. We would not have been able to extend our reach to many of these kids without Kendall Subaru's Share the Love Program. It has helped us to keep "all kids playing," through this challenging, every changing, and chaotic time. Thank you for helping us to give kids a chance to once again be kids and to enjoy the gift of play! #SubaruSharetheLove # AllKidsPlay

Kendall Helps Kids and Families in Crisis

Kendall Subaru has been a champion for youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley for six years. They sponsor and support the lives of thousands of vulnerable kids in our community by investing time (Amy Newport is an amazing Board Member) and resources to provide local kids the opportunities and support they get at the Boys & Girls Club. In January of 2020, Kendall Subaru announced their decision to direct the funds they raised ($22k) during the Share the Love event to benefit 500 kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley. Little did we all know how critical that support would be as the COVID pandemic changed everything that March. Thanks to the investment and support of Kendall Subaru, the Boys & Girls Club was able to safely open it's doors for all-day service (7:30am to 5:30pm Mon-Fri) starting in June 2020 and continue service for 70 youth for the 2020-2021 school year, when all public schools were closed. Kids and families were in crisis and needed help. Working parents needed a safe place for their child to be while they worked and kids needed help with online school and internet access, just to attend school. Thanks to the partnership with Kendall Subaru, the Boys & Girls Club was able to provide 10 deserving families full scholarships for the entire 20-21 school year for 12 children that could not attend without the financial support. Every child in our community was in need of support for school, especially the twelve children receiving these scholarships. Without coming to the Club they couldn't access their online classes, get help with their assignments, read or understand much of the instructions, and would have missed the encouragement they needed to make the best with online learning. These same twelve kiddos also benefitted from having a nutritious breakfast and lunch provided to them everyday while at the Club to ensure they could focus on school. In addition to helping kids with online school and keeping them well fed, Club staff also helped kids process the challenges of life in a pandemic and helped give kids opportunities to get away from a screen and get physically active while spending time with other kids. The elements of a successful child begin with that child feeling loved and supported by a caring adult, especially during a time of crisis. Thanks to the ongoing support from Kendall Subaru twelve amazing and grateful kiddos had access to a lifeline and programs that inspired and empowered them in their biggest time of need and allowed their parents to work during the pandemic. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley and all of it's members are so grateful for the partnership with Kendall Subaru. Together we are helping kids be GREAT, especially those that need it most.

Subaru Loves Pets and helped find Hezzie a home

The Holiday Farm/McKenzie Fire blazed through parts of Lane County, OR and Greenhill Humane Society was a first responder for the animals and the families who love them. Hezzie was found in the evacuation zone and brought to Greenhill to receive medical attention with hopes he would be reunited with his owner. Shortly after his owners came forward, they made the tough decision to surrender him to the shelter. Hezzie had sustained a severe injury to his right eye causing him pain. Greenhill's veterinary team removed the eye and gave him a clear path to recovery. Once he was feeling better, Hezzie became very affectionate and is now a perma-winking cat. Greenhill put Hezzie up for adoption during the Subaru Loves Pets adoption month. It wasn’t long until his perfect family saw a photo of him during the promotion. They came to the shelter and instantly connected and he went to his forever home that day! His family shared, “He’s doing GREAT; he’s become super confident and comfortable and is just as cuddly as ever! I’m so happy to have gotten the chance to meet him! Thank you all so much!!” Thank you, Kendall Subaru, for helping heal Hezzie and helping to find him a perfect home.

Thank You Notes from Meals on Wheels Client

"I get a great sense of security knowing someone will check on me at some point. Or the driver might call the office and tell them I am not answering my door for my meal like I usually do.That's very reassuring! And I have enjoyed every meal I have gotten!" "The Meals on Wheels program has broadened my healthy food choices improving my health! The program has referred me to the farmers market of fresh produce with I intend to use next spring/summer! I was also happy to know of the senior dining rooms" Meals on Wheels doesn't just deliver lunch to seniors, we connect them with other programs and resources in our community. Our Meals on Wheels Program in Eugene, Oregon partners with the local Senior Grocery Program to deliver a monthly delivery of free groceries to qualifying low income seniors. Having a reliable vehicle like our Subaru, allows us to efficiently deliver both groceries and hot meals at the same time. The picture shows how we take full advantage of the spacious interior of our Subaru.

Subaru Connects Seniors

Antone is a new Meals on Wheels recipient. For 32 years she worked at the DMV and was the third female driving examiner in Oregon. She was also a Subaru owner. After a debilitating stroke, Antone's life changed significantly. Antone had lived independently all her life and suddenly found herself unable to drive and in need of assistance with meals. Regretfully, she had to sell her own Subaru. She was able to sell it to her nephew, which took some of the stings out of the situation. When her meals were delivered out of the Meals on Wheels Subaru, she expressed her surprise and gratitude that Subaru had come full circle for her and was now keeping her connected to the community in a different way. Antone says, "I loved my car! I love Subaru's and it makes me so happy to see that Subaru is helping in this way - what a beautiful car!"

Fern was the very first client to receive a meal delivery from the Meals on Wheels 50 cars Subaru in Eugene, OR. Fern is homebound and doesn't have the mobility even go out to her driveway, but she can see outside to watch the cars come and go. When she saw the car with it's distinguished wrap, she immediately wanted to know what the car was all about. After the delivery driver explained the donation to the Meals on Wheels program she receives her meals from, Fern was so excited. She said, "Wow! We have to tell them how grateful we are! I say we because even though I'll never even sit in the car, this car is going to help me get my meals! It's really a donation to all of us!"

Meals on Wheels Delivers Despite Winter Weather

This year, Rozlyn Fox, the program manager for the Meals on Wheels program in Eugene, OR had a lot of car trouble and found herself with a two wheel drive vehicle throughout the worst of the winter weather we experienced in Eugene. Rozlyn was still able to help out on routes because of our program's amazing AWD 2018 Subaru Outback, which was donated by Subaru of America this fall. One day Rozlyn was delivering in Eugene's South Hills and almost every client she delivered to said, "Oh, I didn't think you would be delivering today in this weather!" Rozlyn was able to point the Outback and say, "It's no problem!" Our program was able to deliver meals, smiles and peace of mind to the homebound seniors in our community through the whole winter with no closures or route modifications due to the help of our new Subaru. Thank you, Subaru of America, for the incredible donation!

Delivering Meals, and Peace of Mind

Hi! We are Debbie, Roz and Kelli, and we are the staff of Eugene, Oregon's Meals on Wheels program. We are the proud recipients of one of 50 donated 2018 Subaru Outbacks. As staff members, we go out and deliver food whenever we are short handed on volunteers. With 17 routes going out five days a week, this means that (almost always) at least one of us is out on the road every service day. Before, when we would go out to deliver food, we were using our own vehicles because until now, our program has not had specific Meals on Wheels vehicles available to us. The lack of program specific vehicles has created a hardship for all of us. We are dedicated to serving the seniors in our community, but have been frustrated by all the wear, tear and miles we put on our personal vehicles. If one of our cars breaks down, it is panic inducing because we know we need our cars for our job. Now we have this beautiful 2018 Subaru Outback that we can use when we go out to deliver meals. This car enables us to deliver meals in style. When we show up to a client's home, they look out the window and immediately know "lunch is here!" On days when it is icy or snowy, we have no doubt that we will still be able to reach our clients who are tucked away up in the hills. This vehicle really brings peace of mind to our program, our clients and their families. Thank you, Subaru!

Kendall Subaru Supports Hunger Awareness Month

Kendall Subaru is supporting Hunger Awareness Month in June! In addition to all Kendall employees volunteering their time to sort and prepare food at the Food for Lane County warehouse & kitchen, we are hosting a food drive all month long to support Food for Lane County’s Summer Lunch Program. Unfortunately, many children in Lane County rely on their school lunch for a daily meal. The Summer Lunch Program provides a free lunch for those who might not have it otherwise. Our employees and customers helped our food drive by donating these high need items: peanut butter, tuna, canned fruit, canned vegetables, fruit juice boxes, raisins and crackers.

Doing Our Part To Save The Butterflies

The Monarch butterfly is a familiar favorite of many of our childhoods. Unfortunately, the decline in milkweed plants that are the only natural home for Monarch larvae has caused the Monarch population to plummet by over 90% in recent years. To help raise awareness to this issue, Kendall Subaru has partnered with the National Wildlife Federation for the Butterfly Heroes program as part of our Subaru Loves the Earth initiative during the month of April. Want to learn more about how you can join us in our effort? Stop by our store to get information on the Butterfly Heroes program and pick up a pack of seeds to start your own butterfly habitat.

Kendall Supports Kids

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) provide a powerful voice for abused and neglected children by recruiting, training and supporting professional-level volunteers who speak for each child's best interests in the courtroom and the community. CASA volunteers make a commitment to advocate for their assigned child(ren) until his/her case is closed by the court to ensure each child is safe, has a permanent home, and is given the opportunity to thrive. Our community truly supports this mission, and we can't talk about community support without talking about Kendall Auto Group. They support us so generously throughout the year! They are sponsors at all of our events, participate in our Business Advocate Program, and always think of us in April for Child Abuse Prevention! This year was extra special, as they chose CASA of Lane County as their local organization for the Subaru Share the Love event. A record year for their team, they had a wonderful surprise in store for us. We held the Share the Love check presentation to kick off Child Abuse Prevention Month. At the event, they presented a $25,000 check to us in front of their team and members of our board, staff, and supporters! It was amazing! We feel so very supported by Amy Newport and her Kendall Family. A huge thank you to Subaru and Kendall!

Kendall Subaru-The Definition of Community

The definition of community is "a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals." and Kendall Subaru demonstrates their commitment to the meaning of community every day. Through their attitude of giving generously, they help provide emergency food assistance to thousands of folks in Lane County that would otherwise have to go without. Through their amazing interests in all non-profits, they partner with multiple organizations helping children, struggling individuals and families, as well as the vulnerable senior population. Through their genuine goals, they strive to make sure no one is going without the help they may desperately need. Kendall Subaru is the definition of community and we at FOOD for Lane County feel so fortunate to have them as our Title Sponsor of The Grilled Cheese Experience, supporter of the Weekend Snack Pack Program, KVAL-Can Do Food Drive, and so much more.

Christmas for Kids 2015

Kendall Subaru is so proud to once again be the presenting sponsor of Christmas for Kids of Lane County. 2015 marks their most successful year thus far, as they provided $100 worth of gifts for 736 underprivileged children in Lane County. In the Lane County area, we have an overabundance of children who are in need, especially during the holiday season. The families selected are from places such as First Place Family Development Center, the Boys and Girls Club, the Relief Nursery, Womenspace, CASA, and other local organizations. The organization hopes that by including youth volunteers in the community in the entire process, they'll share in the enthusiasm and learn the value of generosity. Christmas for Kids also hosted a Breakfast with Santa where they provided the families with a delicious hot breakfast, holiday games, a visit by the Oregon Duck and Sluggo, and the gift distribution from Santa himself and a couple of his reindeer. It's a day the kids will never forget!

Christmas in July at LaVelle Vineyards!

Kendall Subaru was thrilled to be the Presenting Sponsor for the 1st Annual Christmas in July at LaVelle Vineyards on July 22nd, benefiting Christmas for Kids of Lane County. Nearly 200 people enjoyed delicious food from Oregon Wood Oven Pizza; they danced the night away with music from Santa's favorite DJ, and made fun memories in the Kendall Subaru photo booth. The little ones had a blast in the jump house, and they kept cool with one of the biggest snow ball fights ever (aka - water balloons). And of course the parents appreciated the elegant fruit-forward wines that LaVelle is known for. Christmas for Kids achieved their goal of raising awareness, recruiting more volunteers (as young as 3yrs old and as old as... well we promised we would not disclose her age :), raising money, and filling the 1936 Ford truck with lots of socks and much needed shoes for the kiddos this Christmas. Christmas for Kids of Lane County is a non-profit organization that works to ensure severely underprivileged children in Lane County get the holiday experience they deserve. Our area has an incredibly high population of disadvantaged youth, many of whom live in shelters or are at chronic risk of being homeless. Our objective is to provide toys, clothing, necessities and lasting memories to as many of these children as possible. To learn more about Christmas for Kids, visit: www.OregonChristmasForKids.org

Swingin' Summer Night 2015

Kendall Subaru is proud to be a sponsor of the 2015 Swingin' Summer Night Swingin' Summer Night is a casually elegant evening hosted in the beautiful wine country surrounding Eugene. Over 100 guests joined us at Sweet Cheeks Winery for the spectacular view, fine wine and cuisine, and dancing! It was a beautiful way to spend a Northwest summer evening and it all benefits the Volunteers In Medicine Clinic. Volunteers In Medicine Clinic is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 to provide quality and compassionate medical services, free of charge, to low-income members of our community who do not have medical insurance in their workplace and do not qualify for government assistance. Because of their income, gaining access to health care services is nearly impossible. Necessary medical services have been provided to thousands of residents that simply have nowhere else to turn thanks to the generosity of the community and events like this one. We sincerely hope that you will support this effort to make Lane County a healthier community and ensure that medical care is accessible and affordable to all in need. Kendall Subaru Loves the Earth

Giving back to our community means a great deal, but so does taking care of the Earth! Going green means more than recycling water bottles and throwing trash away instead of out your car window. Going green also means recycling our electronic materials that are no longer useful to us. At Kendall Subaru, we took the pledge to collect phones, computers, and other electronic items in the month of April in honor of Earth Day and we are excited about the collection we received. It's important to us to take care of our Earth and this was our small part in helping do just that.
